sometimes…
I see things and write things. I don’t know where they should live in my art world…but I sense they need a place.
This is that place.
Earth + Ether runs till August 6th
The Jeweled Warrior
110 Pottstown Pike, Chester Springs
artwork can be purchased online at www.thejeweledwarrior.com
It’s a huge learning process! I’m excited to broaden my perspective while trying not to become “native plant fundamentalist” but…I might just;)
Grab you own cuppa & enjoy a summer garden tour.
Come join me at The Jeweled Warrior on July 7th, 5:30 pm for the opening of Earth + Ether!
THE JEWELED WARRIOR

Chester Springs, PA
July 7th - August 6th
It goes on sale Saturday morning May 20th.
This year I’m sharing a mini Lacuna piece with copper detailing on the frame. It’s called “Ripple” and it can be hung on a wall or viewed from both sides…as it plays with the light.
I’ll be the featured artist for May at The Collabery Gallery. The Collabery is a Pop Up gallery in downtown Phoenixville celebrating local artists. I like to think of it as a “secret gem” hidden below a historic building. It’s actually super easy to find behind Paloma’s restaurant.
I’m excited to be showing an eclectic mix of pieces…plus I’ll have The Chester County Studio Tour catalogs available for you to pick up. More info coming soon!
I’ve used the magic of Photoshop & Lightroom to blend these dark Illumination drawings into digital atmospheres.
To me, they are sort of strange bits of visual poetry. Some way of meshing the imagination into an actual moment.
I’m hoping they are more than the sum of their parts…if you know what I mean?
This time around, I figured out how to make the “elusive blue” stain I was going for. I gave up looking for copper scraps and just went to Lowes and got some pipe fittings.
Oh! the blue was beautiful…but almost disappeared when it dried on the paper. Although, it does seem to deepen after I add wax to the paper!
I’m an admirer of Piet Oudolf’s gardens. They look like art to me. Landscape paintings created with plants. His philosophy of embracing the “gloomy” beauty in the winter silhouettes…has transformed how I see my garden. It’s the idea of seeing beauty in the dry, drab, and dead.
I like to call it “winterest.”
I’m flipping through my journal. The gold letters on its cover spell out “In the midst of our lives, we must find the magic that makes our souls soar.”
Inside it’s a real mess of a thing. A mix of notes, mind dumps, and recordings of random dreams. I come across an entry from early January. In it, I tell myself to
A collection of dark art & quotes to muse on as we dive into the darkest days of the year…Hope you enjoy!
Lacuna…is a beautiful word I had never heard. I like to say it aloud…it sounds to me like a tropical island!
It actually is a word used in connection with…
It feels wild, not in the sense of being out of control but in the sense of being totally free. Because I paint intuitively I never know what is going to show up in the final piece. I love this connection to the unknown…It’s exciting to see what
I wake up cold. I can feel there’s a good chance of frost in the low meadow so I fumble around awkwardly to get dressed while still inside my sleeping bag. I grab my camera. I walk under golden…
side effect of being an artist is having some of the most amazing people swirl into my orbit. Many of these “stars” can see way more in my art than even I can! This has always made me feel that things are truly more…
“Way Finder” is a pin-talisim piece that recently was included in an online exhibit at the Ida Herma Museum of Art Foundation
For months now, I’ve been working on these illuminations.
Last summer, I came across this amazing hot press black watercolor paper. My first idea was to use it for pin-talism pieces but that was a complete fail. It’s a softer cotton paper and just can’t take the pressure of pin punching!
So I changed directions…
I’m sure I said it before but photographing flowers always feels a bit like cheating…they are so astonishingly beautiful all on their own.
Me showing up in my garden with my feet in the mud and a camera in hand, thinking I can bring anything more beautiful to the moment…is really me just being
We made Geneva, NY our landing pad for exploring the area. It’s surrounded by rural land with creative people making interesting things to eat & drink. The glaciers have sculpted clues to a much icier past. Leaving behind peaceful lake views and gorgeous gorges. Driving around reimagining the…
So I’m sharing here the poetess Virginia McKinnie’s full poem “Harmonics” along with these “Silver Linings” paintings that are a peaceful blending of color with iridescent details.
Read out loud if you dare & share!
May we all drink peace.
These mixed media encaustic artworks have just that cracking open energy that I’m talking about. It’s been so intriguing to explore more with the chaos of melting wax. I am especially interested in the micro detail of the pin punch pieces I used in the first layer.
Well over a year ago...a beautiful couple commissioned me to create a large artwork for their home...it was as if I "fished my wish" when they said they just wanted it to be whatever came up out of the art making process 100% freedom of expression!
I especially like the myth of Eve because she’s got a dark reputation. In my mind she is bold and thirsty for knowledge & change. She reminds me nothing grows or evolves without imperfections.
Enjoy a virtual dive into the art of the Blues…I collected these blue waterworld feeling paintings from work in private collections.
Blue has always felt like both a lifting to sky heaven and an dip into the deep unconscious waters where words have no meaning and things just flow and fly free.
Instead of making New Year’s resolutions…
Let’s make home a sanctuary. I made a list of simple things to transform the moment and create a beautiful soul space. May the only resolution be to relax & refill your soul.
I usually have time for these experiments in the late afternoon when the sun comes to dance on the studio floor. This creative time is different than painting. Less intense energy. More soothing. Almost…meditative, as I sit punching paper with a pin to make tiny dots of light.
This piece has grown wild over the last few months with watercolor, pens, and pin punches.
And…shadow blooms.
Never underestimate a woman who knows her power but chooses to remain soft
she's
half fire. half flower.

It began with water. It began with paper.
No like other myths it began with a tree.
It’s about beautiful parts unable to connect anymore.
It’s a tangle. It’s about the invisible.
