Cosmic Flowers: Photography

Siobhan BedfordComment

I’m sure I said it before but photographing flowers always feels a bit like cheating…they are so astonishingly beautiful all on their own.

Me showing up in my garden with my feet in the mud and a camera in hand, thinking I can bring anything more beautiful to the moment…is really me just being a mad woman. Still, if the raindrops are like diamonds in the morning light…I will not be able to resist the temptation to try.

These shots were all taken in daylight in my little garden and then reimagined using the tools in Lightroom.

I like to think of practicing photography as another way to experience the world. To notice the details. To connect with some deeper energy that keeps finding its way into this mad world. It’s a way of meditating or staying sane…I’m pretty sure they are the same thing;)

Most flowers bloom without anyone even being aware. It’s the few that get admired. Even fewer are photographed. In a kind of madness, each is a beauty that blooms for the briefest of moments. Season after season, they come and they go, like cosmic petal worlds blinking in and out of existence.

Sometimes…

they whisper “adore this madness!”

Sometimes…

I do…at least for a moment.

I hope you do too.
