The Empress….

She is a new watercolor pin-piece I’ve been working on through these last windy days of winter. I’ve been working with the piece to push the light in different directions using the camera and edits in Lightroom. I embraced all the bells and whistles that Lightroom has to offer.

These are some of those explorations.

The Many faces of the Empress

I started experimenting with layering with another pin paper piece. Using a flash light and candle to play with the light. Even tried some greenery. I think using flowers would be intriguing…So looking forward to the spring blossoms to try that out!

It’s a learning curve but interesting & exciting possibilities!

Enjoy!

Art for your home

Siobhan BedfordComment

The best advice I know about collecting art for your home is don’t look for a piece that is what I call matchy-matchy with your walls. Look for a piece that goes with your soul. An artwork that makes makes you feel intrigued will always find a place. It’s easier to repaint walls than to find a piece of art that is as unique as you.

Green Glow

As I write this the ground is a blanket of white and it’s still snowing! I’m not a fan of the cold but it’s very beautiful. And, very bright! I absolutely adore light so it’s all good.

Before the holidays…I shared this painting from the Spectrum Series. Since, then I’ve added one more warm glaze. It’s a subtle change but it gives a touch of earthiness and makes the green really glow.

Subtle change is still a transformation!

It’s probably the day but when I look at it now I keep thinking of seeds ready to stir as the light returns.

When we turn the corner halfway through winter I always feel like it’s the real New Year. Spring is still far off but…it’s in sight!

All that reinventing energy is on its way.

Till then…stay warm & enjoy the art!

There is nothing constant in the universe. All ebb and flow, and every shape that’s born, bears in its womb the seeds of change.

Ebb & Flow

Ahh…it’s January & freezing!!!

Still, I’m in the studio adding in the final iridescent details to the last painting in the Sea Change series.

It’s called “Ebb & Flow”

It’s very deep sea with the most mysterious octopus like creature swirling away.

Just needs to fully dry through the winter before being released into the wild! Just in time for the tour!

So wonderful to be looking forward to an art event…don’t you think? I got on the waiting list to be vaccinated. I’m hopeful I’ll be able to have my work space open this time around for you to visit in May. Lots of creative alchemy going in there!

I’d like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus’ garden
In the shade
We would be warm
Below the storm
In our little hideaway
Beneath the waves
